NIAGEN Plus: A New Way to Support Your Energy, Cellular Health, and Healthy Aging
What if feeling your best started at the cellular level?
We all know the feeling. You wake up tired and wonder when your energy levels started changing. Maybe your workouts take longer to recover from, or your busy days leave you drained. While there are many reasons for these changes, one important piece of the wellness puzzle is NAD+.
At Vital Health Integrative Medicine, we're excited to offer NIAGEN Plus, an IV therapy designed to support your body's natural production of NAD+ and a proactive approach to cellular wellness.
First Things First: What Exactly Is NAD+?
Think of your body as a house with millions of tiny batteries. Those batteries are your cells, and they need energy to keep everything running. NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) helps cells turn nutrients into usable energy. It's also involved in cellular maintenance, metabolism, and DNA repair.
NAD+ levels tend to decline with age, and scientists are studying what that means for health.
Meet NIAGEN Plus: A Different Approach
NIAGEN Plus contains nicotinamide riboside (NR), a form of vitamin B3 your body can use to produce NAD+. Rather than delivering NAD+ itself, NIAGEN Plus supplies a building block cells can use to make it. Think of it like giving your body ingredients instead of handing it the finished product.
One of the most appealing differences is convenience. At Vital Health, the NIAGEN Plus protocol takes approximately 30–45 minutes, compared with longer traditional NAD+ infusions.
Why Is Everyone Talking About NIAGEN Plus?
Cellular energy support
NAD+ is essential for normal cellular energy production. Researchers are investigating whether raising NAD+ levels leads to noticeable improvements in energy or fatigue.
Healthy aging
NAD+ participates in cellular maintenance pathways. IV NR has not been proven to slow aging or extend lifespan.
Metabolic health
NAD+ plays a role in how the body processes nutrients and generates energy. Researchers are exploring possible metabolic effects of NR.
Cellular maintenance and repair
NAD+ is involved in normal cellular processes, including DNA repair pathways.
A convenient IV experience
Early research suggests IV NR may be administered more quickly and with fewer infusion-related symptoms than traditional NAD+ IV.
NIAGEN Plus vs. Traditional NAD+ IV
How it works
- Traditional NAD+ IV: Delivers NAD+ into the bloodstream
- NIAGEN Plus (NR) IV: Delivers NR, which cells convert into NAD+
Infusion time in a 2026 study
- Traditional NAD+ IV: 97 minutes on average
- NIAGEN Plus (NR) IV: 37 minutes on average
Symptoms in the pilot study
- Traditional NAD+ IV: Nausea, abdominal cramping, chest pressure, increased heart rate, among others
- NIAGEN Plus (NR) IV: Generally milder symptoms, including temporary tingling and cramping
Vital Health protocol
- Traditional NAD+ IV: Varies by dose and tolerance
- NIAGEN Plus (NR) IV: Approximately 30–45 minutes
Evidence
- Traditional NAD+ IV: Long-term benefits uncertain
- NIAGEN Plus (NR) IV: Long-term benefits uncertain
What a 2026 Study Found
A 2026 retrospective pilot study compared four consecutive daily infusions of IV NAD+ or IV nicotinamide riboside in 14 participants. The average infusion time was 97 minutes for NAD+ versus 37 minutes for NR, approximately 60% shorter for NR.
Participants receiving traditional NAD+ reported symptoms including nausea, abdominal cramping, diarrhea, chest pressure, and increased heart rate. NR recipients generally reported milder symptoms, including temporary tingling and mild cramping. Reported symptoms resolved after infusion. These preliminary findings need confirmation in larger studies and do not establish long-term health benefits.

Who Might Want to Consider NIAGEN Plus?
NIAGEN Plus may be worth discussing if you are interested in proactive wellness, cellular health, NAD+ production, or a shorter alternative to traditional NAD+ infusions. It has not been established as a treatment for fatigue, weight loss, chronic illness, or age-related disease. Your provider can review your medical history and goals to help determine whether it is appropriate.
